From Dream to Reality - A BIG THANK YOU!
Muskaan Support Australia Inc. was established by Marion and Kevin, together with others sharing the vision, to raise Australian support for Muskaan's programs and the building of a dedicated campus in Bhopal.
Since 2010, we have raised $96,000AUD for Muskaan School Bhopal through 5 major Bollywood Balls, great raffles and silent auctions, many sausage sizzles and restaurant nights, and selling kites, balloons, and henna painting, and direct donations by generous sponsors and supporters.
It has been a challenging, yet rewarding journey. In the process we have made many new and lasting friends, particularly among Melbourne's Indian diaspora. We have valued the generous support of many Rotary clubs, business sponsors, caterers, dance performers and volunteers who have made our events so successful. We have enjoyed putting the fun into fundraising while raising community awareness in Melbourne of the wonderful work of Muskaan in the slum communities in Bhopal. We thank the many, many people who have listened and responded to the story of Muskaan and who have whole heartedly attended our events.
We have achieved our primary vision. The 2009 dream of a permanent dedicated Muskaan school campus is now a reality and we are proud to have played a significant part in this achievement - together with supporters in India, USA and Europe.
As we are not getting any younger, we do not have the resources to continue conducting such major fundraising events and at the AGM held in September 2017 it was decided to wind-up Muskaan Support Australia Inc.
How can you continue to support Muskaan School?
The building will continue to require further funds for services, fitout and furnishings and we commend you to make any direct donations you can to Muskaan Bhopal for this purpose. If you are travelling to India, call-in to see the Muskaan school in Bhopal- maybe spend some time sharing your skills with the students and staff.You will be made most welcome.
